Disappointed

The device freezes, looses it's page and the getting back to the page is impossible. Therefore there are gaps in what you read. One would think that you could get a simple text, download and presentation correct.

User's recommendation: just know the device glitches and expect them.

Lack of help. I

I tried to transfer 41billion.points to my new kindle and lost them. I contacted their support system at 8 times and sent to the same site which did not have my problem. I told them that I was 87 years old with sight problems due to the and asked please to help me and sent to the same site. I asked for a phone number.....no. I feel that they stole 41billion points.

Unable upload manuscript

I have published my book in Amazon after downloading my book ins not showing in the format. The description is one side and photos are one side still facing problem. Need help to upload in proper format in paper back and e book.

Why the heck did they stop using this! I paid for and dnlded an app that would let me have the date, and it won't work 3/4 of the time! Frustrating and stupid!

New Format

The new format is not user friendly. I have to search and dig deep to find anything that used to be right on screen. It's clunky and not nearly as efficient as the previous click on categories. I like upgrades when they really make a difference. This one does not!!!

Frustration

I have used my Kindle extensively for several years. Amazon did an update to the Kindle a few months ago and it is a total disaster. Books that I have bought won't download, books that show in my library won't open, books show up in my library and mysteriously disappear. I sent an email and the answer was that this was an "improvement for security." Since I bought this thing to use for reading books, it seems that should be the primary function and it should work. I am ready to throw the thing in the trash and start hitting the used bookstore and Thriftbooks again.

User's recommendation: Just forget getting a Kindle until Amazon wakes up and fixes what they broke.

What is wrong with these new Kindles

I purchased one of the first Amazon Kindle E readers when they first came out. It had the querty keyboard, buttons that worked, and never, never, once failed me. When it needed a charge ( and by the way held a charge for ever it seemed) I charged it. Unfortunately my husband sat on it and it was toast. I ordered a new Kindle e reader. Nothing but problems, screen always freezing up, has to be re booted all the time, at times a battery and exclamation point comes up on the screen. The USB cord is a piece of junk, have to use a better one I bought. You would think they would get better. Am not pleased nor impressed with these new Kindle e readers. Very disappointing.

Experation date has arrived.

Contacting customer service led me to the reality that my kindle without a an available computer even with available WiFi will not update, cannot make any new purchases. So I now own a paperweight lidrary that is as long as I can keep recharging the battery Well I was never told that to own a kindle that you have to own a computer ,the small details that are left out. So I have to use at least 100 words to be able to post this complaint so that is what I am doing! I am,jam, jam, now so I’ll see what you guys want and then maybe just let them out for me a couple minutes late then just take it and then you don’t have a ride so you might just have a few things that would work out for us to pick up a car for me a bit before then just

Very poor customer service

I called for help, Hadn' t used my kindle in 5 mos but I purchased 2 books from you but they would not download. I called your help desk and spoke to Jaison (who was barely understandable because of his heavy Indian accent)for over half an hour. After that time and many line checks he told me my ipo had 149 people on it which surprised me as I was the only one on it. My computer screen then flashed an invoice for $499. I asked what that was for and he said that I would have to buy this program to fix my kindle. I OBJECTED! I wasn't going to pay $499 to fix a Kindle problem that he should fix.! He called his supervisor, also an Indian to whom I again objected. He said "don't shout at me' which I didn't and hung me after over half an hour on the phone with no fix for my problem. What kind of company are you running? I call for help and speak to a person whose accent is so thick that he's barely understandable and then get pushed to to buy a virus program which I already have. I AM ANGRY! Kindle - Ebook Reader Review

I wanted a replacement for my 8.9" Fire. It was no longer holding a charge. I was told that it was no longer made and that I would have to buy the 10" model. I chose to put the cost for a Refurbished 10" Fire. It worked fine for about 3 weeks then it, too, wouldn't take a charge. I tried the chatger in my 8"Fire and everything worked fine. I returned the 10" Fire and got an 8"Fire in return. They, of course kept the money. I get angru y everytime I think about it! Caroline Dixon My email is "carolinedixon16@***.com

I cannot sort books published in the last 30 days anymore. Why would I want to review books I've already read. All new writers are now excluded and sent to obscurity.

Amazon kindle

Kindle would not keep wi-fi connection. Spent 3 hours on phone with techs, connection dropped twice. Now my kindle not only does not get wi-fi, it doesn't work at all. They re-set kindle and it needed wi-fi to re-register, hmmm, doesn't get connection. So, I had to connect to my computer to send them logs to review, now I have to be tech savvy to solve problem with their device. End result, they will get back to me in 24-48 hours with their results. So, kindle doesn't work at all now and I'm waiting to see what they can do. Oh, did I mention the language barrier??

Amazon Kindle DX - Cheap design

Chronic problems with all Kindles: 1) Poor quality plastic of the enclosure including all of the switches and panels contribute to cracking and failure of plastic panel buttons and joystick. 2) Failure of joystick ribbon connector due to ultra-small ribbon connector retainer. This is a pocket that is soldered to the motherboard that the joystick ribbon cable inserts into. It is pressed against the board's connections by a hinged plastic snap device. The plastic in this device is soft and fails over time, preventing the joystick switches to communicate. Subsequently, people press the joystick harder and harder, fracturing either the joystick molded onto the switch, or the cheap plastic back panel. There are no replacement parts for these cabinets. Like everything manufactured today it is play and throw-away. Expect to buy another one every 6 months. These ribbon connectors were larger in the 1980's and made of higher quality components. But consumers have become complacent and demand smaller and smaller devices, which means it can only get so small and cheap, before things lose robust quality's. That word doesn't even apply to most consumer products today. Frustrated? Complain to the same federal and international consumer agencies I do to make a difference. Enough complaints and recalls, a company folds.

Diabolical Service - unfit for purpose product!

I bought a top of the range - 3G and WiFi Kinde for my wife's birthday in March 2011. In August 2012, 17 months later the product failed. It was not physically damaged but one day just had lines all over the screen rendering the product unfit for purpose. My wife called to complain and was offered a discount on a new product - a derisory 20%. I called to see about other options but was told that because I had bought the Kindle for my wife as a present, "customer service" would not speak to me. I asked my wife to call and give permission to speak to me but the person who answered just hung up and our subsequent calls from our landline are not being answered. We will of course try from a differnt landline but clearly no-one wants to help or discuss the issue. I paid £152 for a product that has lasted 17 months and do not consider that to be satisfactory. To be offered a replacement for £150 (which apparently includes a 20% discount) is hardly reasonable and I am looking forward to seeing what Trading Standards think about the situation. My advice - do not buy a Kindle and do not buy from Amazon.
